Neeraj Chopra and Indian Hockey Team Gear Up for Paris Olympics 2024 Semi-Finals

The Indian men’s hockey team will play against world champions Germany in the Paris Olympics 2024 semi-finals. India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, will start his title defense in the men’s javelin throw event on Tuesday.

Hockey Semi-Finals

The Harmanpreet Singh-led hockey team has shown great spirit at Paris 2024. Despite being down to 10 men in the first half of the quarter-final match against Great Britain, they managed to secure a place in the semi-finals. India, the most successful hockey nation in Olympic history with 12 medals, will play Germany at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium at 10:30 PM IST.

Javelin Throw

Neeraj Chopra will compete in Group B of the men’s javelin throw qualification round starting at 3:20 PM. Kishore Jena will throw in Group A starting at 1:50 PM. At least 12 out of 32 participants will qualify for the final scheduled on Thursday, with the automatic qualification mark set at 84.00m.

Other Events

Besides hockey and athletics, Indian athletes will also compete in wrestling and table tennis. Vinesh Phogat, an Asian Games and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, will compete in the women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling division against reigning Olympic champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the round of 16.

In table tennis, Indian men’s players Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Manav Thakkar, seeded 14th, will face top seeds China in the men’s team event in the round of 16 at 1:30 PM.
