As Maharashtra gears up for elections to its 288 Assembly seats, the Mumbai Police have intensified their vigilance. On Friday, they recovered Rs 30 lakh in cash from a car and detained two individuals for questioning. The Income Tax department has been notified of the incident. During the election period, known as the Model Code of Conduct, individuals carrying more than Rs 50,000 must have valid documentation.

The political scene is bustling with activity as both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) work through seat-sharing discussions. The Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, while the MVA consists of the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are set for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. A significant meeting took place in Delhi, attended by Home Minister Amit Shah and key leaders of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
