Joining the Team in Chennai

Morkel has previously worked with India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir during their time together in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He was named as the successor to Paras Mhambrey, who worked with the previous head coach Rahul Dravid.

During his playing days, Morkel was a key player in South Africa’s pace bowling line-up. He also served as the bowling coach for Pakistan, a role he left six weeks before his contract was due to expire after the ODI World Cup in November last year.
