On Saturday, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, criticized opposition leaders for politicizing the Delhi airport canopy collapse incident, which resulted in one death and several injuries. He emphasized that politics should not be involved in such tragic events.

Mohol assured that the Civil Aviation Ministry has taken precautions to prevent such accidents in the future. He mentioned that a structural audit of terminals across the country will be conducted to ensure safety.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu expressed his condolences for the loss of life and announced the creation of a war room to ensure refunds or alternate flights for affected passengers. He also stated that emergency response teams were immediately deployed to manage the situation.

To prevent similar incidents, a special team from IIT Delhi’s structural engineering department will provide an initial inspection report. Based on this report, necessary actions will be taken.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced that operations at Terminal 1 will remain suspended until further notice. All flights have been temporarily shifted to Terminals 2 and 3.
