Minister Jagat Singh Negi Raises Alarm Over Drone Activity at Indo-China Border

Concerns Over Security in Kinnaur District

Jagat Singh Negi, the Tribal Development, Revenue, and Horticulture Minister of Himachal Pradesh, has expressed serious concerns about drones frequently flying along the Indo-China border in Kinnaur, a district he represents. He has halted activities in the barren lands of the region due to these intrusions and criticized central agencies and the Union government for not taking adequate action.

Call for Concrete Measures

Negi emphasized that slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” are insufficient and stressed the need for concrete steps to prevent Chinese intrusions. He pointed out that despite the presence of local intelligence and the Intelligence Bureau, the central government has not acted on the frequent drone sightings, compromising security.

Accusations Against Central Government

Negi accused the central government of inaction, stating that the drones are undoubtedly coming from China, as the border area is heavily monitored. He highlighted the loss of 4,000 square kilometers of land in Ladakh to Chinese incursions and criticized the central leadership for not taking a firm stand.

Environmental Concerns and Protests

Negi mentioned that environmentalists opposing the issue have been silenced, with one being arrested in Delhi. He criticized the central leadership’s statements about China’s economic power, suggesting they lack the will to confront the issue.

Previous Concerns and Urgent Need for Action

Negi had previously raised concerns about Spiti, another border area vulnerable to Chinese advances. He warned that areas like Chijli and Chitkul are at risk of occupation and stressed the need for immediate security strengthening.
