Maryam Nawaz Criticizes Imran Khan’s PTI for Protests in Pakistan

In a recent public address, Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan, criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) party, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, for organizing protests in Islamabad and Lahore. Speaking at the launch of the ‘CM Climate Leadership Development Internship Programme’, she accused PTI of trying to create “political smog” in the country.

Maryam Nawaz condemned PTI for promoting a culture of protests and agitation, especially in a financially struggling nation. She alleged that PTI used resources from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state, including government employees and vehicles, to stage protests in Islamabad. Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a close ally of Imran Khan, was mentioned as a key figure in these activities.

Maryam Nawaz further criticized PTI’s agenda, claiming it aims to create chaos and disrupt the country’s progress. She highlighted the negative impact of such protests on Pakistan’s global image and questioned the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Returning to the event’s theme, she addressed the pollution and smog crisis in Lahore, one of the world’s most polluted cities. She emphasized the need for climate diplomacy with India and mentioned government efforts to monitor smoke-emitting vehicles and issue fitness certificates.
