Manu Bhaker Meets Rahul Gandhi After Winning Two Medals at Paris Olympics
Double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker met the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, at the Parliament House in New Delhi. The Indian National Congress shared a photograph of Bhaker with Rahul Gandhi on X. She was accompanied by her coach Jaspal Rana and her parents.
Earlier at the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian to win two medals at the same Olympics. Bhaker and her partner Sarabjot Singh secured bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed team event. The duo defeated South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off match.
India has won five medals at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, including four bronze and one silver. Bhaker opened India’s medal tally by securing third place in the women’s individual 10m Air pistol event, becoming the first-ever woman shooter to win an Olympic medal for India. Other medalists include Swapnil Kusale, who won bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3P event, and the Indian hockey team, led by Harmanpreet Singh and PR Sreejesh, who won bronze with a 2-1 victory over Spain. Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw with a best throw of 89.45 meters.
