In Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, an accused involved in a massive Rs 1,814 crore drug seizure from a Bhopal factory was taken into custody. The accused, Premsukh Patidar, allegedly shot himself in the foot to avoid police questioning before surrendering. Mandsaur Superintendent of Police, Abhishek Anand, confirmed the incident, stating that Patidar was wanted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and other agencies. After shooting himself near Afzalpur police station, he was admitted to the district hospital and is now out of danger. Further legal actions will follow after consulting with doctors and the NCB.

Background of the Drug Bust

On October 6, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the NCB uncovered an illegal MD drug manufacturing unit in Bagroda, Bhopal. They seized 907 kg of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MD) drugs and raw materials worth Rs 1,814 crore. Two individuals, Amit Chaturvedi from Bhopal and Sanyal Bane from Nashik, were arrested.

Further Arrests

On October 7, the Gujarat ATS, with help from Mandsaur police, arrested Harish Anjna in connection with the Bhopal drug seizure. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Manoj Kumar Singh, noted that Anjna had a history of poppy husk-related crimes under the NDPS Act. The Gujarat ATS sought assistance from Mandsaur police, leading to Anjna’s arrest and handover to the ATS.
