On Monday, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu was given a grand welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. He was received by India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with First Lady Sajidha Mohamed.

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

President Muizzu and the First Lady paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, where Muizzu also signed the visitors’ book.

Bilateral Talks and Meetings

During his five-day visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House. He arrived in India on Sunday, welcomed by Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kiriti Vardhan Singh. The visit is at the invitation of President Murmu.

Muizzu also met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, discussing the strong ties between India and the Maldives. They reviewed ongoing projects and explored new opportunities for collaboration.

Engagement with Maldivian Community

The President and First Lady met with the Maldivian community in New Delhi, addressing their concerns and reaffirming their commitment to resolving issues.

This visit marks Muizzu’s second trip to India this year, following his attendance at Prime Minister Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in June.
