In Mumbai, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed comments made by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut regarding the recent assembly elections. Raut had claimed that seats were "stolen" after the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faced a significant defeat. Fadnavis countered these claims, suggesting that sometimes introspection is necessary.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is nearing a historic victory, leading in over 231 out of 288 seats, while the MVA is leading in just 48 seats. Fadnavis emphasized that the Election Commission conducted fair elections in Jharkhand, where the JMM-led alliance is set to return to power. He sarcastically remarked that if the BJP's victory in Maharashtra is questioned, then the Election Commission must be biased.
Fadnavis stated, "I don't usually respond to Sanjay Raut, but today it's necessary. The elections in Jharkhand were fair, and the EVMs were secure. Democracy has triumphed there. If we have a huge victory in Maharashtra, then the Election Commission is accused of bias!"
Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut expressed skepticism about the election results, questioning the number of seats won by NCP, Shiv Sena, and BJP. He suggested that the results do not reflect the public's decision and hinted at irregularities, stating, "They have done some 'gadbad', they have stolen some of our seats."
