Maha Vikas Aghadi to Contest Maharashtra Elections Together

Ramesh Chennithala, Congress’ in-charge for Maharashtra, has dismissed any rumors of a split within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. He confirmed that the alliance will contest the upcoming assembly elections together, with all candidates to be announced soon. After a meeting in Delhi, Chennithala stated that Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat will meet with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP-SP Chief Sharad Pawar to resolve any issues.

Chennithala assured that the alliance is united and working on a strategy, while the rival Mahayuti alliance faces more significant challenges. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole mentioned the party’s focus on fair representation for OBC candidates. Thorat also confirmed that the final list of candidates will be released shortly, with ongoing discussions about seat adjustments.

The Congress Central Election Committee met in Delhi to select candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal acknowledged some differences within the MVA but expressed confidence in resolving them to restore Maharashtra’s former glory.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party, an MVA ally, is demanding more seats, with its Maharashtra Chief Abu Azmi warning of fielding candidates independently if demands are unmet. The elections are set for November 20, with results on November 23. In the previous elections, the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Congress secured significant numbers of seats.
