Madhya Pradesh Villages Win ‘Best Tourism Village’ Awards on International Tourism Day

On International Tourism Day, three villages in Madhya Pradesh, India, were honored with the title of ‘Best Tourism Village’ by the central government. Pranpur, Sabarvani, and Ladpura Khas were recognized in different categories for their contributions to tourism.

Pranpur Village

Located in Ashoknagar district, Pranpur village won in the Craft category. The village is known for its handloom weaving, with more than fifty artisans working with bamboo, wood, stone, jewelry, and clay crafts. A ‘Handloom Cafe’ and an amphitheater have been developed for tourists.

Sabarvani Village

Sabarvani village in Chhindwara district received the award in the Responsible Tourism category. The village offers a range of activities for tourists, including bullock cart rides, agricultural tasks, and trekking. It is also close to natural attractions like Anhoni Hot Spring and Ghoghra Waterfall.

Ladpura Khas Village

Ladpura Khas in Niwari district was also recognized in the Responsible Tourism category. The village promotes cultural and natural assets through community-based values and sustainability.

Chief Minister’s Congratulations

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav congratulated the people of Madhya Pradesh and the Tourism Department for this achievement. He highlighted the state’s efforts to promote rural tourism.

Tourism Initiatives

The Best Tourism Villages Competition was introduced in 2023 to promote tourism in India’s villages. In its second edition, 991 applications were received, and 36 villages were declared winners across eight categories.
