In New Delhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed 135 diplomats and officials from 83 countries at a program organized by the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies. He discussed the enactment of three new criminal laws, emphasizing their alignment with contemporary societal challenges and technological advancements. Birla highlighted the importance of understanding each country’s legal framework to enhance diplomatic efficiency.

He noted that India’s legal system ensures justice for all, with the public viewing judges as figures of trust. Over 75 years, public confidence in India’s legislative process has grown, reflecting strong democratic values and governance accountability. Birla stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in legislative work.

He also emphasized gender equality as a core principle of Indian laws, which inspire global standards. Indian laws uphold international commitments, human rights, and empower citizens through policies on gender equality, environmental protection, and anti-discrimination. Birla mentioned India’s robust arbitration system as a heritage practice. Former Chief Justice of India UU Lalit also spoke at the event.
