In New Delhi, Congress MP Kumari Selja has reaffirmed her dedication to the Congress party, dismissing rumors of her joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She stated, “Selja toh Congressi hai,” emphasizing her contentment with the party. Addressing concerns about the representation of Dalit leaders in Congress, Selja noted that every community has its expectations, which is a normal part of politics. She expressed that while no leader can fully satisfy everyone, her community is aware of her commitment.

Selja also addressed the rumors sparked by some BJP leaders during the election campaign, who suggested she was not receiving due respect from Congress. She clarified that she is not upset with the party, acknowledging that politics involves various perceptions and internal matters. She emphasized that respect and position are present within the party.

Regarding Ashok Tanwar, a former Congress MP who rejoined the party, Selja mentioned she was informed about his decision. Tanwar, who had joined the BJP and contested against Selja, recently returned to Congress during a rally led by Rahul Gandhi in Haryana.

Selja expressed confidence in Congress’s performance ahead of the upcoming Haryana elections, highlighting the efforts of Rahul Gandhi and the party’s president. Haryana is set to hold elections on October 5, with results to be announced on October 8. In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP won 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats.
