Kiran George Advances to Second Round at Korea Masters 2024
In Iksan City, South Korea, Indian badminton player Kiran George has progressed to the second round of the men’s singles event at the Korea Masters 2024. Despite a challenging start, George overcame Vietnam’s Nguyen Hai Dang with scores of 15-21, 21-12, 21-15. The match lasted 57 minutes, showcasing George’s resilience and skill.
George, aged 24, initially struggled but found his rhythm in the second game, securing two consecutive victories to advance. In the upcoming second round, he will face Chi Yu Jen from Chinese Taipei, who defeated South Korea’s Park Sang Yong with scores of 21-14, 21-18.
Kiran George is the sole Indian participant in this year’s Korea Masters. Initially, three Indian players were set to compete, but Ayush Shetty withdrew after reaching the semi-finals at the Hylo Open in Germany, and Imad Farooqui Samiya also pulled out, leaving George as the only contender from India.
