In February, the central government merged several existing awards, including the Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal and the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation, to form the ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’. The medal is announced annually on October 31, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
