Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge Defends CM Siddaramaiah Amid MUDA Scam Probe

In Bengaluru, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge defended Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the ongoing investigation into the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. Kharge questioned why Siddaramaiah should resign when the state BJP president, facing an Enforcement Directorate (ED) case, has not stepped down. Kharge emphasized that the allegations are politically motivated and that Siddaramaiah is a law-abiding citizen.

MUDA Scam Allegations

The inquiry into the MUDA scam involves alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, in Mysuru. The Lokayukta initiated the investigation following a court order to file an FIR. The ED has also filed a money laundering case against Siddaramaiah and others, applying the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Political Reactions

Siddaramaiah has denied the allegations, claiming political persecution, and refuses to resign despite BJP’s demands. The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to Siddaramaiah and others, seeking a transfer of the investigation. The court has asked the Lokayukta police to provide details of the probe by November 25.
