Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 23: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced that the police have gathered significant information regarding the shocking murder of a woman in Bengaluru. The woman’s body parts were found in the fridge of her house.

Suspect Identified

The Minister mentioned that the police suspect a man from West Bengal to be behind the murder but need more evidence to confirm his involvement. Parameshwara stated, “The police have collected a lot of information, a lot of clues. One individual is also been…kind of they say he is the one. Unless we collect more information we can’t really say. He is from West Bengal they say.”

Government’s Measures for Women’s Safety

When asked about the government’s measures to enhance women’s safety, the minister said, “We have already taken a lot of precautions for women’s safety in Bengaluru. We are very careful about it. We have installed CCTV where a lot of women go. These kinds of steps we have taken.”

Details of the Incident

In a shocking incident, a 29-year-old woman named Mahalakshmi was murdered, and her body parts were cut into several pieces and stuffed in the fridge of her house in Vinayaka Nagar, Vyalikaval, Bengaluru. She had been living alone in the rented house for the last five months. Shekar H Tekkannavar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Bengaluru, said that the body parts were highly decomposed, suggesting that the murder could have taken place a fortnight ago.

Political Reactions

On Sunday, the state unit of the BJP criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government over the incident. The BJP’s official handle posted on X, “Under @INCKarnataka rule, appeasement policies have led to a complete collapse of law and order. The brutal murder of Mahalakshmi by Ashraf is a clear reminder that Kannadigas are no longer safe in this Hitler-led @siddaramaiah government.” The BJP also alleged that the Congress opposed anti-love Jihad laws to please their vote bank.
