Karnataka High Court Allows Investigation Against CM Siddaramaiah in Mysuru Land Case
The Karnataka High Court has dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition that challenged the approval given by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for an investigation into alleged illegal land allotments by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to Siddaramaiah’s wife.

Justice Nagaprasanna, in his judgment, stated that the Governor’s order for sanctioning the prosecution did not suffer from non-application of mind. Siddaramaiah had questioned the legality of the Governor’s sanction under Section 17 A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and prosecution under Section 218 of Bharatiya Nagarik Surakha Sanhita, 2023.
The Governor granted the sanction on August 17, following applications by social activists Pradeep Kumar SP, TJ Abraham, and Snehamayi Krishna. It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted 14 sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife in a prime location in Mysuru city.
Interim Relief and Final Verdict
On August 19, the High Court had granted temporary relief to Siddaramaiah by directing a special court in Bengaluru to defer further proceedings. However, on August 31, the Governor’s office informed the High Court that the sanction was granted after due consideration.

The state unit of the BJP welcomed the High Court’s verdict and demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation. They stated that the court’s decision upholds the fight against corruption and called for Siddaramaiah to respect the law and resign immediately.
