US Vice President Kamala Harris had a brief and cordial phone call with former President Donald Trump to express her relief that he is safe following gunfire near his golf club in Florida. The FBI is investigating the incident as an attempted assassination.
The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, has been charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He will remain in jail awaiting trial, with a detention hearing set for September 23 and an arraignment on September 30.
