Kalidas Kolambkar Aims for Ninth Term in Maharashtra Elections

Kalidas Kolambkar, a seasoned politician and eight-time Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (MLA), is running for re-election from the Wadala seat in Mumbai. Representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kolambkar has a remarkable record, having never lost an election since 1990. He attributes his success to serving the public wholeheartedly, stating, “If you do politics wholeheartedly and serve the public, it can go up to the ninth term.”

Kolambkar’s political journey has seen him transition from Shiv Sena to Congress and finally to BJP. He credits his political mentor, Balasaheb Thackeray, for his career, saying, “My parents gave me birth, but it was Balasaheb who gave me birth in politics.”

As the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, scheduled for November 20, Kolambkar reflects on the split within Shiv Sena, expressing disappointment in the current leadership’s handling of the party. The elections will see the opposition alliance MVA, consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), competing against the Mahayuti alliance, which includes Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, BJP, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The vote counting will occur on November 23.
