Juvenile Arrested in Connection with Dr. Javed Akhtar’s Murder
In New Delhi, police have arrested a juvenile linked to the murder of Dr. Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner. The Southern Range Crime Branch is actively searching for a second suspect. The incident occurred at Nima Hospital in the Kalindi Kunj area, where two boys, aged 16 to 17, visited the clinic at 1 am on October 2. After changing their dressings, they entered Dr. Javed’s cabin, and a gunshot was heard.
Police identified the suspects using CCTV footage and clues from one suspect’s Instagram account, where he posted a story holding a pistol and claiming responsibility for the murder. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, but it appears to be a targeted attack. DCP (South-East) Rajesh Deo stated that the incident was unprovoked and investigations are ongoing to explore all possible angles.
