Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar, Chairperson of Lokpal of India, hoisted the national flag on Independence Day. He emphasized that institutions like Lokpal must act as watchdogs to support transparent and corruption-free governance.

According to an official release from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Justice Khanwilkar urged the officers and staff of Lokpal of India to give their best to achieve the goals enshrined in the Constitution of India.

The event saw the presence of Justice Sanjay Yadav, Sushil Chandra, Pankaj Kumar, and Ajay Tirkey. Justice Khanwilkar extended Independence Day greetings to all members, senior officers, staff, and their families, recalling the sacrifices of those who fought for India’s freedom.

He highlighted India’s rapid progress towards becoming self-reliant and developed, noting that with growth comes increased commercial activities and potential greed. Therefore, institutions like Lokpal must ensure transparent and corruption-free governance.

On this solemn occasion, saplings were also planted by the Chairperson and Members of Lokpal, India.

India’s Lokpal is an anti-corruption authority that represents public interest and acts as an ombudsman to investigate complaints against the administration. The word ‘Lokpal’ translates to ‘Protector of People’.
