JP Nadda Urges Congress President Kharge to Act on Tamil Nadu Hooch Tragedy
New Delhi, June 24: BJP National President JP Nadda has written a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu, which claimed 57 lives. Nadda expressed his shock at the Congress party’s silence on the incident and invited Kharge to join a black band protest against what he termed a ‘state-sponsored disaster’.
Tragic Incident
The tragedy, which occurred in Karunapuram village, resulted in 56 deaths and 159 hospitalizations due to the consumption of spurious liquor. Nadda emphasized that the BJP has extended condolences and support to the affected families.
Call for Accountability
Nadda criticized the ruling DMK-INDI Alliance for their alleged nexus with the illicit liquor mafia, which he believes contributed to the disaster. He also accused the state administration of attempting to cover up the incident instead of taking responsibility.
Demand for Action
Nadda urged Kharge to press for a CBI probe and the removal of the Tamil Nadu Minister for Excise and Prohibition, Muthuswamy. He also called for increased compensation for the victims’ families and a visit from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra to the affected area.
Protest Invitation
Nadda invited Kharge to join a black band protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue within the Parliament precincts to demand justice for the victims.
