Josh Inglis Not Considered for Opening Spot in Upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy
As the Australian cricket team prepares for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India starting November 22, selection committee chairperson George Bailey has confirmed that wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will not be considered for the opening position. Other contenders for the batting slots include Nathan McSweeney, who has excelled for South Australia, and Sam Konstas, a standout in the U19 World Cup. Marcus Harris, who has previously represented Australia, is also in the running.
Bailey also emphasized the need for more Australian left-arm spinners, inspired by New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner’s recent success. He mentioned Cooper Connolly as a promising talent in this area.
For the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, new leadership candidates like Matt Short, Josh Inglis, and Aaron Hardie are being considered, as Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa will not lead the team. The series will take place in Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart from November 14 to 18.
