India Shines at WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, responsible for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Education, celebrated the achievements of Indian participants at the WorldSkills 2024 competition held in Lyon, France. The event saw India winning 16 accolades, including four bronze medals in Patisserie and Confectionery, Industry 4.0, Hotel Reception, and Renewable Energy.

Celebrating Excellence

Jayant Chaudhary praised the winners, stating that their success reflects India’s growing expertise in both traditional and emerging industries. He emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce and the role of India’s skilling ecosystem under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Honoring Paralympic Achievements

The ceremony also honored eight Paralympic winners, including Preethi Pal, who made history by winning India’s first para-athletics medal at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris. Devendra Jhajharia, President of the Paralympic Committee of India, was the guest of honor.

Recognizing Hard Work

Jayant Chaudhary awarded cash prizes to the WorldSkills medalists and their trainers, acknowledging their dedication and resilience. The Indian delegation’s success against over 70 countries highlights the strong industry support and training they received.

Future Aspirations

Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation, spoke about India’s 13th global rank and participation in 52 skills. He emphasized the need for structured training to prepare for future competitions, aiming to make India a global hub for skilled talent.
