In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the importance of new infrastructure projects inaugurated in the region. These projects, dedicated by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, are seen as crucial for both strategic and economic reasons.

Strategic and Economic Importance

Governor Sinha expressed his gratitude to Defence Minister Singh for dedicating 19 infrastructure projects under the BEACON and SAMPARK initiatives. He emphasized that these roads and bridges are vital for the Army and civil administration, providing an economic lifeline to remote areas.

Nationwide Infrastructure Development

On Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated 75 infrastructure projects by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), costing Rs 2,236 crore. These include seven roads and 12 bridges in Jammu and Kashmir, costing Rs 731.22 crore. The projects span 11 states and union territories, with 19 in Jammu and Kashmir alone.

Key Highlights

One significant project is the Kupup-Sherathang Road in Sikkim, linking Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg and Zuluk axis. Singh emphasized that these projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening border infrastructure and promoting socio-economic progress.

Vision for the Future

Defence Minister Singh noted that these projects enhance the country’s defense readiness and align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047’.
