Israel's Operation Iron Wall: Airstrikes and Arrests in Northern Samaria
Israel has expanded its counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria, now in its 13th day. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted three airstrikes overnight targeting terrorists. One strike in Qabatiya hit a vehicle carrying terrorists planning an attack, killing two, including Abd al-Hadi Kamil. Aerial footage showed secondary explosions, indicating explosives were present. Other strikes targeted terror cells in Jenin.
In the village of Tamun, soldiers seized weapons, including an M-16 rifle. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a warning to Zakaria Zubeidi, a high-profile Palestinian terrorist recently released. Katz stated, "We will not accept support for terrorism." Zubeidi, a former commander of Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigades, was involved in past attacks and was one of 110 terrorists released for hostages.
The ongoing operation, named "Operation Iron Wall," began on January 21 following the Palestinian Authority's failed crackdown in the Jenin refugee camp. The IDF has arrested dozens of wanted terrorists, seized weapons, and uncovered a bomb-making lab. Previous operations in Jenin revealed a tunnel shaft, rocket launcher, and more weapons. The camp, known as "The Martyr's Capital," houses over 24,000 registered refugees.
