Israel’s Ongoing Efforts Against Hamas After Yahya Sinwar’s Death

In Tel Aviv, Israel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have announced their continued offensive against Hamas following the death of Yahya Sinwar, the group’s leader. IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated that the mission is to bring home all 101 hostages still held by Hamas. Sinwar was held responsible for the October 7 attacks, which were the most brutal in Israel’s history, involving massacres and hostage-taking.

Hagari emphasized that the offensive is targeted at Hamas, not the people of Gaza, and that Israel is working to increase humanitarian aid, including food, water, and medicine, to Gaza. The conflict reignited after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, with 2,500 terrorists breaching the border, resulting in over 1,200 deaths and 250 hostages taken. Israel has vowed to eliminate Hamas while minimizing civilian casualties.
