Israeli strikes kill dozens in Lebanon, 29 dead in Beirut attack
Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon: Devastation in Beirut and Beyond
In a series of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon, dozens of people have been killed, including 29 in a major attack on a residential building in Beirut's Basta area. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted 12 Hezbollah command centers in Dahieh, Beirut, which were used for planning and executing attacks against Israel. The Lebanese Ministry of Health updated the death toll, initially reporting 20 deaths, later confirming a higher number.
Rescue teams worked tirelessly as the aftermath of the airstrikes unfolded. Despite efforts for a ceasefire, Israel continues its military campaign against Hezbollah. The IDF confirmed strikes in Beirut's southern suburbs, targeting Hezbollah positions. Evacuation orders were issued to minimize civilian casualties, but heavy bombings were reported.
Outside Beirut, airstrikes hit the Baalbek-Hermel region, killing 13 people, including children, and injuring others. In southern Lebanon, the city of Tyre was also targeted, resulting in five deaths and 19 injuries. Since September, Israeli airstrikes have killed numerous Hezbollah commanders and damaged infrastructure, causing significant devastation in southern Lebanon. The conflict has resulted in over 3,000 deaths and displaced more than a million people, according to the United Nations.
