In recent weeks, the Israel Police's Yamar Unit, which is responsible for central investigations, has been active in the southern part of the country. They uncovered a criminal network and prevented a shipment of grenades intended for criminal use. Last week, during the operation's open phase, a contractor was arrested in Ashkelon just before an assassination attempt, and he was found with a grenade. Other members of the criminal group were also arrested with more weapons.
Additionally, over the weekend, detectives from the unit pursued suspects on Highway 4. Two individuals from Rahat, who were supplying weapons to the criminals, were apprehended. They were caught transporting nine grenades to the criminals.
