Israel and Hezbollah Clash: Rockets, Airstrikes, and Rising Tensions

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified, leading to a series of violent exchanges. Israel has launched 400 attacks on Lebanon, while Hezbollah has fired rockets at Israel’s Ramat David base near Haifa.

Hezbollah’s Attack

On Sunday, Hezbollah announced it had targeted Israeli military-industrial complexes north of Haifa, specifically the Rafael Electronics Company. This attack injured three people. The group claimed this was a response to the ‘pager and wireless devices massacre’ in Lebanon.

Casualties in Lebanon

Recent attacks have resulted in significant casualties in Lebanon. On Wednesday, at least 20 people were killed and over 450 injured. Additionally, explosions from pagers and walkie-talkies on Tuesday and Wednesday killed 39 people and injured nearly 3,000.

Israel’s Response

The Israeli army confirmed that more than 115 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel. In response, Israel attacked Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The Israeli Defence Forces reported that many Israeli civilians had to seek refuge in bomb shelters due to the rocket attacks.

UN’s Warning

The United Nations special coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, warned of an ‘imminent catastrophe’ in the Middle East, emphasizing that there is no military solution to the conflict.

Recent Airstrikes

Tensions escalated further after an Israeli air attack in Beirut’s southern suburbs killed 37 people, including children and women, and injured over 60. The Lebanese Health Minister reported that 17 people are still trapped under the rubble.
