India’s Telecom Boost: C-DOT and CSIR-CEERI Collaborate for Advanced Antenna Technology
In an effort to enhance India’s telecom infrastructure and support the “Bharat 6G Vision,” the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has partnered with the CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI) in Pilani. This collaboration aims to create a Multiport Switch with a Tuneable Impedance Matching Network for a single broadband antenna that can cover 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G bands.
The project is funded by the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). It focuses on developing a Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS)-based switching network to enhance antenna performance and ensure seamless connectivity across various communication bands, from 2G to 5G and beyond.
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures such as C-DOT Director Dr. Pankaj Kumar Dalela and CSIR-CEERI’s principal investigator, Dr. Deepak Bansal. Dr. Bansal praised the Department of Telecommunications and C-DOT for promoting collaboration and building advanced telecom research capabilities in India.
C-DOT’s CEO, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, emphasized the significance of this partnership, reiterating C-DOT’s dedication to developing innovative communication technologies that align with India’s goals of self-reliance and innovation. Once completed, this technology will allow a single antenna to cover multiple bands without interference, providing a streamlined solution for future telecom needs.
