India’s Path to World Test Championship Final: Challenges and Strategies

India’s assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar, has addressed concerns about the team’s current position in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. Despite recent losses to New Zealand, India remains at the top with a 62.82-point percentage. However, the path to the final in London next year is challenging.

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India needs to win their remaining six Tests, five of which are against Australia in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. India has reached the WTC finals twice before but has not yet secured a victory. The upcoming Test at Wankhede against New Zealand is crucial, as a win would bring India closer to the final.

Nayar emphasized the importance of focusing on each game. “When you put on the Indian jersey, every game is critical,” he stated. He highlighted the need to stay present and take things day by day. If India wins four of the remaining six games, they will have a 64.04 per cent point percentage, ensuring a spot in the final, assuming no points are lost due to slow over rates.
