India is experiencing a surge in demand for premium credit cards, driven by its strong economic growth. As the country’s GDP reaches USD 3.5 trillion, affluent Indians are increasingly seeking exclusive services. The Reserve Bank of India has noted a 16.4% increase in credit card issuance, totaling 105.4 million cards by August 2024. This rise is accompanied by higher transaction volumes and spending on travel and leisure.

American Express Enhances Platinum Card Benefits

In response to these trends, American Express India has introduced new benefits for its Consumer Platinum Card®. These enhancements focus on travel, lifestyle, and everyday conveniences, offering card members additional value in luxury hotel stays, dining discounts, and personalized global services. The updated benefits provide a cumulative annual value of over Rs450,000, including a Rs60,000 welcome gift and three new elite-tier memberships.

Exclusive Perks for Card Members

Platinum Card members will enjoy complimentary digital subscriptions to premium publications and streaming services, along with discounts on retail shopping, health services, Uber rides, and pet care. They will also continue to benefit from unlimited access to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide, insurance coverage up to Rs5 crores, and access to premier golf courses.

India, stated, “For over four decades, the Platinum Card has been a symbol of distinction and excellence in the premium card membership category.” He added, “With this latest refresh, we are elevating the experience to meet the aspirations of a new generation of Card Members by offering new elite-tier memberships, enhanced rewards, and exclusive experiences that reflect their dynamic lifestyles.”
