The Denmark Open proved challenging for Indian badminton players. In the men’s singles Round of 32, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran faced a tough match against SU Li Yang from Chinese Taipei. SU won the first set 21-15, but Sathish fought back to take the second set 21-17. However, SU clinched the victory in the third set, 22-20.

In women’s doubles, the Indian pair Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly played against Malaysia’s Thinaah Muralitharan and Pearly Tan. Gopichand and Jolly won the first game 21-19 but lost the next two games 17-21, 15-21.

Meanwhile, PV Sindhu advanced to the second round after her opponent, Pai Yu Po of Chinese Taipei, retired due to a knee injury. Sindhu dominated the first set 21-8 and was leading 13-7 in the second set when the match ended.

On the other hand, Lakshya Sen faced disappointment, losing to China’s Lu Guangzu in the opening round. Sen started strong, winning the first game 21-12, but Lu made a comeback, winning the next two games 21-19, 21-14.

In women’s singles, Malvika Bansod was defeated by Nguyen Thuy Linh 21-13, 21-12 in the Round of 32.
