Indian Street Premier League Season 2: Trials Begin October 1 with Support from Sachin Tendulkar and BCCI
The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 2 is set to start on January 26 and will run until February 9 next year. The trials for this season will begin on October 1 and will be held in 55 cities across five zones. The player auctions are scheduled for December 15, 2024.
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar have been crucial in the league’s growth. Their dedication, along with the blessings of the late Amol Kale, has helped the ISPL discover and showcase street talent on grand stages.
Suraj Samat, the League Commissioner, expressed excitement for Season 2, stating, “Following the overwhelming success of Season 1, the ISPL is thrilled to kick off the highly anticipated trials for Season 2, starting on October 1st. We remain dedicated to nurturing exceptional talent and fostering healthy competition.”
Indian cricket legends Jatin Paranjape and Pravin Amre will lead the selection trials, ensuring fairness and transparency. New spot registration options and real-time trial slot selection have been introduced to streamline the process. Registered players will receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ with a unique QR code via WhatsApp, email, and their ISPL account profile.
Jatin Paranjape, Head of Selectors, emphasized the importance of balancing entertainment and talent development. Pravin Amre, also a Head of Selectors, highlighted the need for a structured and reliable selection process to nurture emerging cricketers.
The inaugural season of ISPL in March drew over 12,000 fans per match and over 5 lakh fans in total. The league featured innovative elements like the ‘Tip Top’ toss, the 50/50 challenge, ‘Tape Ball Over,’ and ‘9 Street Runs,’ making every match thrilling for fans.
As ISPL gears up for Season 2, the league is committed to finding the next generation of cricketing champions from across 55 cities, divided into five competitive zones.
