Indian Shuttlers Advance in Hylo Open

Malvika Bansod’s Victory

Malvika Bansod, who previously won the Azerbaijan International and reached the US Open semifinals, defeated Irina Amalie Andersen with scores of 21-13, 21-16. Despite trailing in the second game, Bansod made a strong comeback to win the match in 41 minutes. She will face Nguyen Thuy Linh of Vietnam next.

Rakshitha Sree’s Upset

Rakshitha Sree, only 17 years old, surprised everyone by defeating Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland, a two-time Commonwealth Games medalist, with scores of 21-14, 21-12. She will compete against Dawall Jakobsen of Denmark in the quarterfinals.

Men’s Singles Success

Ayush Shetty, 19, who won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, beat Giovanni Toti of Italy 21-13, 21-9. He will face Kalle Koljonen of Finland in the next round. Sathish Kumar Karunakaran, seeded seventh, will play against Christo Popov of France. Although he lost in mixed doubles, his singles performance remains strong.
