Indian Railways Expands Travel Options for Government Employees
The Ministry of Railways in India has announced an expansion of train options for government employees using the Leave Travel Concession (LTC). This initiative aims to enhance the travel experience for these employees by including 385 premium trains. These include 136 Vande Bharat, 97 Humsafar, and 8 Tejas Express trains, in addition to 144 existing high-end trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto.
New Travel Guidelines
Under the new guidelines, government employees can travel to their hometown or any destination in India using their LTC. The travel classes are determined by the employee's level:
- Level 11 and below: Chair car travel in Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Shatabdi express trains.
- Level 12 and above: Executive chair car travel in the same trains.
- Level 12 and above: AC 2nd class travel in long-distance Rajdhani-type trains.
- Level 6 to 11: AC 2nd class travel.
- Level 5 and below: AC 3rd class travel.
About Leave Travel Concession (LTC)
LTC is a concessional travel facility that allows government employees to travel to their hometown or anywhere in India during a four-year block period. Employees can claim LTC for their hometown twice in two years, or for a mix of their hometown and other locations over the four years.
