Indian Men’s Hockey Team Reaches Paris Olympics Semi-Finals After Thrilling Win Against Great Britain
Paris, France – August 4, 2024: Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the Indian Men’s Hockey Team for their victory in the quarterfinals against Great Britain at the Paris Olympics. During the match, India took a 1-0 lead in the second quarter when Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner. However, India’s Amit Rohidas received a red card for a foul, leaving the team one man down. Great Britain’s Lee Morton equalized before half-time. Despite multiple opportunities, Great Britain couldn’t score in the second half. In the shoot-out, India scored all four attempts, with goalkeeper PR Sreejesh making a crucial save to secure the win.
In their previous match, India defeated Australia 3-2 in a Pool B match. Abhishek and Harmanpreet Singh scored early goals, while Harmanpreet added another in the third quarter. Despite a late goal from Australia, India held on to win the match.
