Upon receiving requests for help, the Embassy acted swiftly, coordinating with Lao authorities to facilitate their safe exit and transport to Vientiane.
A team from the Embassy traveled to GTSEZ to assist the youth, ensuring all necessary procedures were completed. The Embassy provided food, accommodation, and transportation for the rescued individuals. Indian Ambassador to Laos, Prashant Agrawal, met with the youth to discuss their experiences and assured them of their safety and support for their return to India.
The Embassy is working with Lao authorities to finalize exit formalities for the youth's return to India. They have also issued a warning to Indian youth about job offers in Thailand that may lead to trafficking in GTSEZ. The advisory includes details on potential risks and contact information for assistance.
So far, the Embassy has rescued 924 Indians, with 857 already returned to India. The Embassy thanked Lao authorities for their cooperation and urged action against the criminal elements involved.
