Indian Army Joins Indonesia for Garud Shakti Exercise

The Indian Army has sent a special contingent of 25 personnel to Indonesia for the 9th edition of the joint exercise ‘Garud Shakti’. This exercise, taking place from November 1 to 12, highlights the strong defense cooperation between India and Indonesia. The Indian troops, from The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), will join 40 personnel from the Indonesian Special Forces Kopassus in Cijantung, Jakarta.

The exercise aims to enhance military cooperation and understanding between the two armies. It includes planning and executing special operations, sharing information on weapons and tactics, and practicing Jungle Forces Operations. The exercise also provides an opportunity to learn about each other’s culture and lifestyle, fostering military cooperation.

Additionally, on October 24, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono in Kazan, Russia, during the BRICS Summit to discuss strategic partnerships and strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
