Indian Army’s Strategic Meeting Near China Border

In a significant move, the Indian Army’s top leaders, led by General Upendra Dwivedi, are set to meet in Sikkim near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. This meeting, scheduled for October 10-11, marks the first time such a crucial gathering is held close to the LAC. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the commanders, focusing on the sensitive situations in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, where India and China have faced regular stand-offs.

The meeting will also cover lessons from global conflicts and their implications for the Indian Army. This is the first meeting under Gen Dwivedi’s leadership since he became Chief of Army Staff on June 30. A second phase of the conference is planned for October 28-29 in Delhi.

Gen Dwivedi recently commented on the border situation with China, describing it as stable but not normal, and highlighted the lack of trust between the Indian Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army as a major issue.
