India’s hockey team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, secured a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Spain. The match, described as ‘exciting and nail-biting’ by former player Pargat Singh, saw Harmanpreet score twice and PR Sreejesh make crucial saves.

This achievement marks India’s first consecutive bronze medals in hockey since the 1972 Munich Games. Former goalkeeper Mir Ranjan Negi praised Sreejesh’s performance, calling it a proud day for the country.

Under coach Craig Fulton, India added a fourth medal to their tally at the Paris Olympics. Harmanpreet’s goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes were enough to secure the win, despite Spain’s Marc Miralles scoring in the 18th minute.

Sreejesh, playing his last game for India, was emotional as the team celebrated this historic moment in Indian hockey.
