India Raises Security Concerns Over Threats to Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra by Khalistani Terrorist
In New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has taken serious note of threats made by US-based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun against Indian Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that such threats are promptly communicated to the US government. During a press briefing, Jaiswal expressed confidence in the US addressing India's security concerns, stating, "We take the threats very seriously and we raise it with the US government."
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who holds American and Canadian citizenship, is designated as a terrorist by India. In October, the MEA confirmed that an individual named in a US Justice Department indictment related to a foiled assassination plot against Pannun was no longer an employee of the Indian government. The US Justice Department alleged that an Indian government employee, referred to as CC-1, recruited Nikhil Gupta to hire a hitman for Pannun's assassination, which was thwarted by US authorities.
