During a press briefing, Jaiswal expressed confidence in the US addressing India's security concerns, stating, "We take the threats very seriously and we raise it with the US government."
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who holds American and Canadian citizenship, is designated as a terrorist by India. In October, the MEA confirmed that an individual named in a US Justice Department indictment related to a foiled assassination plot against Pannun was no longer an employee of the Indian government. The US Justice Department alleged that an Indian government employee, referred to as CC-1, recruited Nikhil Gupta to hire a hitman for Pannun's assassination, which was thwarted by US authorities.
Khalistani refers to a movement that seeks to create a separate country for Sikhs, called Khalistan, in the Punjab region of India. Some people involved in this movement have been linked to violent activities.
