India Masters Pickleball Tournament Begins at DLTA Courts

The India Masters pickleball tournament has started at the historic Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) courts, drawing an excited crowd. The event is hailed as one of the most thrilling pickleball tournaments in India’s history. Day 1 featured singles matches in the Men’s and Women’s Open (Pro) divisions, along with age group categories for players 35+, 50+, and 60+, and an Intermediate bracket.

Men’s Singles Highlights

In the Pro division, a standout match occurred between Armaan Bhatia and Aditya Ruhela. Bhatia narrowly won with scores of 11-10, 9-11, 11-5, showcasing intense athleticism and sportsmanship. Bhatia continued his winning streak by defeating Willy Chung in the semifinals with a swift 11-4, 11-1 victory. He will face top-seeded Dusty Boyer in the finals, who secured his spot by beating Australia’s Tom Evans in a close match.

Women’s Singles Highlights

On the Women’s side, Pei-Chuan Kao from Chinese Taipei won against Roos Van Reek from the Netherlands, while Sofia Sewing from the USA narrowly defeated Australia’s Somer Dalla-Bona. Both matches set the stage for an exciting final.

The tournament also featured age group categories and Intermediate-level matches, highlighting pickleball’s inclusivity and appeal to players of all ages. Pranav Kohi, CEO of PWR, emphasized the sport’s social nature and its growing popularity in India.
