India and Kuwait Strengthen Ties: Meetings Between Leaders and Officials

India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, held a meeting with Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce Industry, Khalifa Abdullah Dhahi Al-Ajeel Al Askar, on Monday. They discussed ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Adarsh Swaika also met with Kuwait’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Bandar Salem Abdullah Al-Muzayan. They talked about various aspects of defense cooperation, including the upcoming visit of three Indian naval ships to Kuwait.

On September 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Kuwait’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Al-Sabah, during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. They expressed their commitment to deepen and diversify bilateral trade for mutual benefit.

Earlier this month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya to discuss strengthening India-Kuwait bilateral relations. They talked about holding an early meeting of their Joint Commission.

India and Kuwait have a long history of friendly relations, with strong historical ties and people-to-people connections. The year 2021-22 marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
