India and Japan Strengthen Ties for a Developed Future by 2047

India is keen to become a developed country by 2047, and its partnership with Japan will play an important role in achieving this vision, especially in defense technology and industry, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. He made these remarks during the third round of the India-Japan 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministerial meeting held in New Delhi.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Rajnath Singh highlighted that bilateral relations between India and Japan have strengthened in all areas, with defense emerging as a crucial pillar. He stated, “We have decided to make India a developed and transformed nation by 2047, on the completion of 100 years of India’s independence. Building domestic defense capabilities is a very important part of this vision. In the field of defense technology and industry, partnership with Japan will play an important role in the completion of this vision of India.”

Key Participants

The meeting saw participation from Japan’s Defence Minister Minoru Kihara and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, along with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
