In New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended a signing ceremony for the Yuga Yugeen Bharat National Museum, a collaborative project between the National Museum in New Delhi and France Museums Development. This museum aims to showcase India's rich traditions through advanced technology, highlighting the cultural partnership between India and France.
Strengthening Cultural Ties
Jaishankar emphasized the strong relationship between India and France, describing both countries as important players in a multipolar world. He expressed confidence that the museum will bring global best practices to present India's glorious past.
Support from France
France's Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, noting the shared cultural aspirations between the two nations. The museum was first announced by the Prime Minister at the International Museum Expo in May 2023.
Project Details
The partnership includes a comprehensive feasibility study, covering museum case studies, interpretive planning, and building programming. France's expertise in museum development, such as the Grand Louvre, will be instrumental in this project. The historic North and South Blocks will be adaptively reused to preserve their architectural heritage while creating a vibrant cultural space.
