Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Appeal in Islamabad High Court
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court against the rejection of their acquittal plea in the Toshakhana case. The appeal was submitted by their lawyers, Barrister Salman Safdar and Advocate Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry.
Bushra Bibi's Court Appearance
Bushra Bibi personally appeared in court for biometric verification and later went to the anti-terrorism court. Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra granted her interim bail in 13 additional cases until February 7, with a surety bond of PKR 5,000 for each case. She expressed distrust in the judiciary, citing pressure on judges and challenges faced by her family.
Toshakhana Case Proceedings
Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand conducted a hearing in the Toshakhana case at Adiala Jail, focusing on witness testimonies. The defense completed cross-examination of witness Mohammad Ahmed, and began with witness Talat Hussain.
Rejection of Bail Applications
On January 13, Islamabad Court rejected three interim bail applications by Bushra Bibi. Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Mujoka dismissed the pleas due to non-compliance with court orders. Prosecutor Iqbal Kakhar noted that bail bonds were not submitted, leading to the dismissal of the applications.
